A CO Derry farmer has been fined greater than £5,000 over an effluent discharge which led a serious fish kill within the River Grange Water.
Philip Palmer (53), of Tobermore Highway in Desertmartin, appeared at Magherafelt Magistrates’ Courtroom – sitting in Derry – yesterday.
Mr Palmer was fined £1,500 and ordered to pay prices of £3,525.34 for the fish kill after pleading responsible to the air pollution offence which resulted within the lack of greater than 2,600 fish.
The offence occurred on Could 21, 2020.
On the the time Setting Minister Edwin Poots claimed the fish kill was because of 30,000 gallons of slurry being leaked into the river.
